'चपराक' : एका साहित्यिक चळवळीचा उदय
वयाच्या पंधराव्या वर्षी विद्येचे माहेरघर असलेल्या पुण्यात त्यांनी पाऊल टाकले. 'दैनिक संध्या'मध्ये काम करतानाच त्यांच्यातील 'संपादक' जागा झाला. पारतंत्र्यातील चाकरीपेक्षा स्वातंत्र्यातील नवनिर्मितीची ओढ त्यांना स्वस्थ बसू देत नव्हती. याच प्रेरणेतून २००२ साली त्यांनी ‘चपराक’ या ज्ञानयज्ञाची मुहूर्तमेढ रोवली. आज 'चपराक' ही केवळ प्रकाशन संस्था उरली नसून, ती विचारांचे विद्यापीठ बनली आहे. 'चपराक' आणि मासिक 'साहित्य चपराक'च्या माध्यमातून त्यांनी ४५ हून अधिक साहित्य प्रकारांना हक्काचे व्यासपीठ मिळवून दिले आहे.

चिंतनशील लेखणी आणि वैचारिक वारसा - एक यशस्वी प्रकाशक म्हणून क्षितिज विस्तारत असताना त्यांची स्वतःची लेखणीही तितकीच तळपत राहिली. ‘दखलपात्र’, ‘झुळूक आणि झळा’, ‘अक्षर ऐवज’, ‘दरवळ’ आणि ‘धडक-बेधडक’ ही त्यांची साहित्यसंपदा त्यांच्या वैचारिक प्रगल्भतेची साक्ष देते. विशेषतः ‘धडक-बेधडक’ या पुस्तकातून त्यांनी महाराष्ट्राच्या सामाजिक आणि राजकीय परिस्थितीवर केलेले भाष्य समाजाच्या डोळ्यात अंजन घालणारे आहे. वैचारिक मतभेदांना हिंसेऐवजी संवादाने उत्तर देण्याचे आवाहन ते करतात. याशिवाय २५० हून अधिक ग्रंथांना लिहिलेल्या प्रस्तावना त्यांच्या चौफेर अभ्यासाचा परिपाक आहेत.

सन्मानाची मोहोर आणि नवोदितांचे आधारवड - त्यांच्या या अविरत तपश्चर्येची दखल साहित्याच्या दरबारात अनेकदा घेतली गेली आहे. 'साहित्य चपराक'च्या दिवाळी अंकाला महाराष्ट्र साहित्य परिषद, पुणे मराठी ग्रंथालय आणि मुंबई मराठी ग्रंथलेखक संघाचे मानाचे पुरस्कार लाभले आहेत. निर्भीड पत्रकारितेसाठी त्यांना ‘स्व. माधवराव गडकरी पुरस्काराने’ गौरवण्यात आले आहे मात्र त्यांचा खरा गौरव म्हणजे त्यांनी घडवलेली लेखकांची नवी पिढी. ‘उपेक्षित ते अपेक्षित’ या धोरणाने त्यांनी ग्रामीण भागातील हिऱ्यांना पैलू पाडून प्रकाशझोतात आणले आहे.
